Hi Sadiq,

Glad to hear you want to register your trademark. That’s a good move. Trademark Registration protects your brand and empowers you to take action against anyone trying to use your brand for commercial benefit.

A company might decide to register it’s trade name, different from it’s name of Incorporation. For example, Coca cola is a Trademark name of Nigerian Bottling company.

Talking about the Trademark requirements. You can Trademark your trade names, logos, product names and slogans.

The Trademark process includesv

Assessment and Classification of the Trademark

Preparation of Power of Attorney

Trademark Application

Issuance of the certificate.

There are certified agents that offer this service, and we are glad to inform you that we do.

For the application, you will be required to provide the logo or mark you wish to Trademark, the name of the owner, email, phone number, address. Of course if ownership is by a company, you will have to provide the details of the company.

The process takes about two weeks and we offer the service at a discounted price of N63,000.

I hope this helps.

The proprietor of a brand name may seek after legitimate activity against brand name encroachment. Most nations require formal enlistment of a brand name as a precondition for seeking after this kind of activity.
